Queen Of Dirt

Going into Saturday at Bethpage Black in upstate New York, the weekend thus far belongs to Stockton, California native Ricky Barnes who has set a U.S. Open record for his 8 under 132 through 36 holes.  The 28-year-old joined the PGA tour in 2003 and has not yet won a tournament – live streaming available here.

Following closely on his heels are Lucas Glover at 133 and Mike Weir at 132.  Already finished with second-round play and currently in a three-way tie for 4th spot is David Duval with a 137.  It is a strong showing for Duval, who struggled following his win at the Open Championship in 2001 and has been in a downward spiral ever since.

Rain delays have backed up play considerably.  It seem likely that the final round will be played on Monday and possibly into Tuesday.
